This piece was illustrated the same time as the Sparda piece (2012).
Nelo (Nero) Angelo translates to Blackened Angel, so it's only right I gave him black wings in this form.
Also, if you see the colour WIPs, I eventually went with the sunset version because in the very 1st Devil May Cry game, Nelo Angelo's first appearance was during a sunset scene (when he flew out from the castle to wage an outside battle with the main character Dante).
Canonically, Nelo Angelo (corrupted version of Vergil) has appeared in DMC1 and DMC3SE. Here, I based his details on the DMC3SE version as he only appears in the Dark Knight original form in DMC1.

Started roughing out the sketch digitally.
Refined sketch. Tested his motifs in its accent colour (yellow)
Colour mood to see which one works best. Between #3 and #4, I eventually went with #4, because the very first time we saw Nelo Angelo in the 1st Devil May Cry game, it was during a sunset cutscene.
Laying on the colour details and adding the feathers FX.
